Instructions for webeditors

If you are transferring content from the old to the new Plonesystem, here is some basic information about new features. Also if this is the first time you create a website, please check this explanation. More to come...

• All the Wageindicator websites are now together in a root. You will find your website on this root-level. Some will have permission to work in their own website, others have permission to work in several websites. Everyone has access to the menufolder "Images".

   

  Teaseritem
  • Like in the old Plone sytem, you can create normal teaseritems and colored teaseritems. The easy part now is that you only have tot select "add new" > teaseritem. The options for both types of teasers are in here. Do not forget o select the position "right" for the colored teaseritems and "left" or "full widht" for normal teaseritems.

   

  Document or Page
  • What used to be a document, is now called a Page. If you are writing an article, or there is only one issue you wish to show when one clicks a menubutton, use "add new" >page.
    There is no need anymore to fill in a 'short name'. Also it is not necessary to fill in index_html. The title will automatically be the URL of your webpage.

   

  Several items in one menufolder
  • You can add teaseritems, pages and i-frames in a menufolder. But only one of these items will be showed when one clicks on a menubutton. So you need to select one of these items by using "display" and select the contentitem you wish to show. If you created only teaseritems or only one document, it will automatically show. If not: use the option "display".
    

   

  Images 
  • All images are in the menufolder "Images" in the root-level. There are many submenufolders. In this folder the images are categorized per theme, like Women49x65 > European Women49x65. The numbers refer to the size of the pictures. Please upload your images in one of these subfolders so everyone can share all images. Do not make your own images folder for your country! If you have several pictures of a theme, suppose you have 20 pictures with butterflies, feel free to create a subfolder Butterflies in the Images folder!

   

  Contact folder
  • If it isn't there, you can create your own menufolder Contact. Select "add new" > form folder. Automatically several items will be created. You can translate everything to your own language. If you wish to place additional text underneath to contactform, or if you need another field for visitors to fill in, please contact me.
    After creating this folder, you need to use the option "dislplay" and select the item you just created. If you do not do this, the folder will not be visible.

   

  Synchronising
  
  • Synchronising is not necessary anymore!! As soon as you publish an item, it will be live on the worldwide web. If you do not want it to be live, leave the item in the status "private".
    
  
  Locked items
  
  • If you are editing an item, it will be 'locked" to make sure there is only one person working in an item at the same time. If you need to edit the item later, or someone else wants to edit it, you will be asked to press the "unlock" button.
  
  Banners and google ads
  • The standard view for everyone is now to show Google ads + the Africa banner + the Workindicator banner. If you wish to exclude Google ads or banners of if you want to show your own banners, please contact me. I will do it for you or explain you how to manage this.
